North East Social Investment Fund
In 2014 Northern Rock Foundation committed £3 million for investment in the North East Social Investment Fund. The North East Social Investment Fund invests in social enterprises with a strong passion to improve their social impact in any of homelessness, poverty and debt, health and social care needs, mental health, offender rehabilitation, unemployment or the regeneration of deprived communities; individual investments range in size from £100k to £1m.

The Community Foundation, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland is now responsible for the loan of the £3 million to the North East Social Investment Community Interest Company which is investing in, and overseeing, the operation of the North East Social Investment Fund by NorthstarVentures.
